Questions concerning Merle/Brindle breeding?

I would appreciate any advise concerning the (prospective-future) breeding of a Brindle to a Merle.

I have a prospective buyer in Hawaii that has a Merle male and she is interested in a brindle female (Twinkle) I have offered for sale.

I would like to know if there are any genetic dangers from a future breeding between this puppy and her Merle.

Both parents to the brindle female are totally NON MERLE.

Pedigree to Twinkles parents are posted on my website.

IF YOU ARE A BREEDER/MERLE HATER, PLEASE RESIST THE URGE TO REPLY.

Update:

The question is in reguard to Chihuahua's

Update 2:

Additional note: I asked a specific question needing imput - not a @@@ chewing> Excuse me, thank you for the kind words. Did you not notice I clearly state I am trying to improve my stock? It is a shame everyone is not born perfect as some of the responders are.

As for the genetic testing, did it ever occur to your pointed brain that the test are being done on the better stock I am getting? They do need to be older.....

Before you class me as a puppy mill you might wish to speak with my vet or the AKC inspector.

Read the health guarantee before you bad mouth it.

Update 3:

Additional note 2: Thank you tantelinder, at least you made an honest attempt to answer the question. The link is helpful.

Update 4:

FINAL NOTE: I had really hoped a breeder with actual experence breeding brindle or merles would respond and I would be able to further discuss my concerns. But alas, it would seem all the breeders on here want to do is bad mouth anyone who ask for assistance instead of trying to answer the question. They should not be so quick to judge someone if they dont know anything about the other person.

Everyone can not just jump into the show circuit or purchase that Champion dog, money and life tend to throw you curves.

As long as there is no merle in the brindles background should be no problem. Here is a web site with a ton of info on it. You do not have to be a member to surf.

    Good Luck!

I am in no way an expert and am trying to learn what I can. From what I have learned a merle should never be breed because of genetic risk especially with sight and hearing.

As far as trying to improve your stock I would start by only breeding dogs that have been genetically tested. If they haven't don't breed them. I would work on placing any ckc dogs and aquiring ack stock. Show your stock. If you have akc championed dogs with genetic test you will be able to offer a good garuentee it should be against genetic defect for at least 2 years. Also if you met these three things not only would you have better dogs but people on here would not be upset or rude because you would be breeding quality. I know it's hard to start from the top but it's worth the effort. I really want to breed a show but I am learning and it will be at least 3 years until I get my first female show quality dog from there it will take a few years to learn the ins of showing and hopefully then I can find a mentor and breed great specamines. I just don't think it's right to breed until you can be at the point of knowing the breed and genetics in and out and until you have a great stock worthy of being breed. Anything else is just being part of the problem.

Good luck getting your stock where it should be and I wouldn't breed anything not worthy which even though beautiful includes merles.

I won't say anything about the merle breeding.

I will however comment about the fact you have CKC registered animals. Now YOU know and I know that the CKC is crap and yet you use them anyways.

Your health guarantee SUCKS but then hey you don't even mention if you actually clear your adults so no freaking surprise

SOOOO since you are a far from reputable breeder to begin with I say go for it.

    ETA: Her website www.chihuahuamagic.com

6 months on genetic health...how generous of you...NOT!

ETA: So you admit before this moment you were breeding crap stock, producing crap pups.

I notice you didn't mention WHY you were using CKC for registration.

And with the exception of THREE females all of your other dogs are more than old enough to be OFA. CERF and BAER and be done well before the age of one and SHOULD have been done.

Its not a matter of being perfect its a matter than you started off on the wrong foot when if you had started on the RIGHT foot and HAD a breed mentor you wouldn't be on YA asking this.

Your dogs are not show quality they hold no titles, more than likely no health testings are done...you're basically a puppy mill. None of your dogs should be sold without a spay/neuter contract....The dogs people are buying off of your website for ridiculous prices they could easily get at any shelter.

Merles can't be bred to merles; each pup has a 1-in-4 chance of being deaf and/or blind.

    Brindle is dominant, too.

Here's someone who appears to know more about this than I do:

Im assuming this is Danes? am i right or wrong?

i don't think its a problem but i may be wrong

oh chihuahua's, probably would have helped to look at her name.

Wait CKC reg.d dogs. well then neither is breeding quality and should be altered. and yeah there would be a problem with the breeding of crap.
