Para correr una BD en MySQL es necesario correr un script o hay un manager como el de SQL Server?

Efectivamente amigo; existe el MySQLAdministrator puedes bajarlo desde aquí
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html
Tambien puedes trabajar desde la consola aunque como puedes imaginar es mucho más tedioso...
