Don't get a house with that score... Do you own any credit cards? If so make sure your balance on all credit cards are under 33% of your available balance. This should boost your score up so you can get a better rate on your new home..

That would be a fair rating. Not very good rates you would get. I would examine why it is so low and try to pump it up before asking for a loan. There are many reasons why it could be so low, not just late payments.

www.bankrate.com has that kind of info. I would recommend you rent instead of buy, regardless of the rate you can get.
Google, "rent vs. buy" and find some calculator so that you can compare the costs of each.
