LDS, are you glad the church uses amazing financial principles?
The church publishes financial information in the UK because of the law. They have over $250 million in savings right now for the 200,000 members. They only spend $30 million a year on an income of $40 million annually. So this gives them around 10 years of a cushion even if all members stopped paying tithing. But their policy anyways is to spend less then they make so they can easily lower expenses when they want. in addition, this is the income for that country only. Salt lake guarantees to support them financially if they are short. All this security is largely based on 2 bible principles. Tithing and a lay ministry.
The lds humanitarian fund in the UK has $40 million dollars. all 100% of it is destined to help the needy since there is no overhead.

What financial principles would those be? Its not hard to make ends meet when you're sucking cash in copious amounts from your followers.

I never see the poor LDS tithe payers in my area change, spiritually or financially. I would have a financial cushion too if convert retention was so low.
The LDS church is so amazing, just not in the way you think.

Sounds to me like they are taking more tithing than they need. They will deny people the right to go to the temple to complete ordinances they say are necessary for exaltation because they have failed to meet their tithing quota, yet the LDS church is cush with money. Sounds like the extra money should be considered profit and taxed.

Yeah, it's too bad that if the members need money they have to jump through all sorts of hoops and be completely destitute. I guess that helps the church save more money, though.

How nice for the very high up ones, that must be. At least they cannot buy the electorate here.
I guess they can always spend it on poor people
How are they going to get into hoodooland with all that rolling cash?

Yes, I'm glad.
Especially in this time of economic uncertainty.
Pretty awesome!
EDIT: The church does do good things with the money that it has. Example, Perpetual Education Fund? Disaster Funds etc??

I suppose, I guess it's something I just kind of expected. I mean they tell us we need to make ourselves financially secure, I expect them to do what they tell us to do.

Anyone else thinking what that money could be doing in Africa?

I know, it's almost as if the God of This World is leading it.
P.S. He is.
P.P.S. - The "god of this world" is Satan.
