    p = perimeter

    w = width

    l = length

    p = 2w + 2l

    p = 36

    w = 2

    l = sqrt(x + 7)

    36 = 2(2) + 2sqrt(x + 7)

    36 = 4 + 2sqrt(x + 7)

    Subtract 4 from both sides:

    32 = 2sqrt(x + 7)

    Divide both sides by 2:

    16 = sqrt(x + 7)

    Square both sides:

    256 = x + 7

    Subtract 7 from both sides:

    249 = x

    x = 249

    x=249.

    Here are the basic steps:

    36= 2+2+Squareroot (x+7)+ Squareroot (x+7)

    36=4+ (2 times the Squareroot (x+7))

    32=2*Squareroot (x+7)

    16=Squareroot (x+7)

    256= x+7

    249=x

    Hope this helps!

    Width + length = 18

    So length = 16

    16 = sqrt (x+7) squaring both sides

    256 = x + 7

    x = 249

    2+2+(2 times sqrt(x+7))=36

    4+2(sqrt(x+7)=36

    2(sqrt(x+7)=32

    sqrt(x+7)=16

    x+7=16 times 16

    x+7=256

    x=249
