Is the howard johnson hotel on the riverwalk in san antonio pretty decent?

I'm planning a trip this summer with my mom and daughter. We're looking for an affordable but clean place to stay. Would you say the hojo fits?

I've never stayed at this specific Howard Johnson, but I checked some guest reviews at the following site:

    http://www.morehotels4less.com/

A few guests say that's it "Average" and "No Beauty Queen", but one comment was it a "Great Value".

Hotel prices are quite reasonable because of the economy, so you might want to check this site to see if there's a better hotel in the same price range.

Embassy Suites is closer to the airport, despite the fact that it has a 2 room suites with 2 beds and a pull out sofa interior the lounge. Marriot Suites are comparable. Plus you may constantly get 2 adjacent rooms like on the Crown Royale Plaza which has a door in between. this is extra funds, yet extra secure and exciting. Rooms on the riverwalk run around $199 a evening and there is often a pull out sofa or you may ask for a roll away.

There's a HoJo on the river? Where?

EDIT: I just looked it up. That must be relatively new. Technically it is a block or so off the Riverwalk, but you're three minutes away on foot, on the south side by the Arneson River Theater, not by all the restaurants. Still, they're within a few more minutes walk.

Most the hotels in the downtown area are nice, some are VERY nice. Because tourism is our "bread and butter" you will find downtown accommodations above average compared to something outside the loop (meaning the 410 loop that encompasses san Antonio)

If your pocketbook can afford it I would suggest the Crowne Plaza (sp?)
