Any one else disturbed by many answers here re: Mathew Johns?

It's a very emotive issue.

What frightens me is the fact that I can be publicly accused of rape and have it destroy my life, despite a police investigation exonerating me of any legal wrong doing. That events that occur in private can be grounds for terminating my employment.

What disturbs me, is that men are held to a higher set of moral and ethical standards than women. That as a man, if I fulfill the desires of a consenting woman, no matter how unpalatable it may seem to outsiders, I'm somehow misogynistic and disrespectful towards all women.

What blows my mind is that simply expecting this girl to take responsibility for her whole role in the saga paints someone as a misogynist.

I to feel that it is scary that so many people and mostly women can be so hostile and judgemental.. While I do not condone mathew johns involvement none of us will ever know the whole story.. I do however have the utmost respect for his wife standing by him, for reasons that are respectfully hers...She would not be going though this all again and would not be if it where not for other women, making their name with a story.. I have grave concerns for the woman at the centre of this. I understand this girl has atempted suciside in the past.. When seeing the interveiw on 4 corners she broke down, What measures have the women who bought her back to this state and situation taken to protect her from herself..and from the media...I am appalled that women can use other women to expose their anger against men. .. I look forward to the women behind the woman to put themselves on camera. While there has been a sexual violation against a woman by males there is also a violation by women against other women..

I am disturbed by the fact that high profile celebs and sports people have a duty to conduct themselves in a decent, responsible way and Johns didn't.

I'm not judging whether it was morally right or wrong, I'm frightened about the affect this sort of behaviour has on young male fans of people like Johns.

Young males in particular are heavily influenced by what their heroes do and say, so what message is Johns behaviour going to say to young guys?

i think its disturbing that ppl are making moral judgements on someone when there morals are most likely no better.i think you need to read your own question before you decide that someone else is ignorant,uncaring,angry,judgemental or misogynistic. my morals dictate that sex outside a permanent relationship,group sex and infidelity are wrong.engaging in these things is not illegal and even though i find it immoral and disgusting the fact is most ppl dont these days.everyone involved on the night (including the girl) made a mistake in judgement as so any ppl do and regret it later.live with your mistakes and dont make someone else pay for it.this incident is a classic example why 19 year old girls shouldn't drink alchohol.

I cant believe some of the things this poor woman is being called, no wonder why women find it so hard to come forward when stuff like this happens.

Whether she consented to having sex with Matthew Johns is not the issue, its the fact that 9 other men came in and did, and he stood back and watched.

All the people siding with him, have obviously never seen a victim of rape, I will never forget the day my sister told me two men had raped her. It was devastating.

Im not really disturbed though, because everyone is entitled to an opinion and this thing is so rampid is society, its not just the in the football leagues, its everywhere.

It's sad because no matter our opinion on the girl's truthfulness there should be one consistant message for everyone. Care more about your fellow human beings. You are obviously talking about comments about the woman. What about all the vilification of matty johns in a lot of comments. A lot of the comments try to paint the guy as a monster. Just think if he was that bad and she was such a victim, don't you think the person who should know him best (his wife) would be signing divorce papers instead of standing by and supporting him.

She didn't - she agreed to go with 2 men.

She is traumatised, and now wants to warn others of how something like this can effect our lives.

The case was investigated, she does not know the names of all the men involved!!
