Update:

"Truth Train": Wow, those are some hateful words. However, I'm not going to report you. Does that give you some insight as to where I stand on book burning?

I'm not for book-burning in general, so I wouldn't burn them. Not because I have any more respect for "holy" books than other books, I'm just not for censorship.

If I was stuck in the antarctic with only books to burn to keep me warm, they'd go right in with the rest of them without a second thought.

I have no problem with those who do so, but feel it's too disrespectful for me to do.

I found it particularly interesting that in the... ARIS study, I think... it was found that while Americans are the most religious among developed nations, they are also the LEAST likely to support a law banning the burning of holy books.

Well, back in the days when you could suppress information by burning books, it was a useful censorship tool.

I don't agree you should!!! But in today's day and age, information is much easier to retain and more viral.

So book burning is a bit more symbolic, and less relevant.

And, I don't approve. Recycle them...

A book is a book. Recycling Pays.

I don't believe in burning ANYBODY'S books, holy or otherwise, even if I don't believe in them. Adults get to choose for themselves what to read, as long as what they DO doesn't affect me.

Oh, and "Truth Train" (below) has been reported by me; anybody wanna join me?

In general, book-burning is a bad thing.

Knowledge is not bad. It's what people do with it that is the problem.

  • 1 decade ago

    I'm against book burning.

  • 1 decade ago

Most of those "holy" books still have valuable historical information.

Depriving people of knowledge is never a good thing.

against it, Im catholic myself, but think of burning any book be it sacred to muslims buddhists wiccans, or atheists, as horrible. I do not support burning books at all

I'd rather say it should be recycled, but if your talking about the destruction of holy books, I say why not?
