How to add music to Camcorder footage?

We are taking a roadtrip in the fall and are looking at filming from the inside of the car at ourselves and the outside and would like to add music to some parts as a kind of montage with pictures and sound etc.

How difficult and what would i need to do/own to overlay music to film ?

Get the video into the computer and use a video editor. Most can mute the audio from the camcorder and add a track or two from external sources.

MovieMaker is bundled with Windows XP and Vista; iMovie is bundled with MacOS...

Since you did not tell us which camcorder or which computer and operating systems, and we don't know your computer skill set... so additional information is difficult.

I find it easy to do.

Take your MP3 player or IPod with you with your music selection already recorded play track when filming, try at home first
