pregnancy after depo provera?
If this pertains to you or somebody you know who has been on depo please share your experiences.
I was on depo for about 3 years. I havent been on it for 6 months now and havent had a period since i stopped recieving. i had a month long period jan-feb and havent had one since but this month my breast have been sore nipples are sooo sensitive along with the areola too. I cant even face the water, they are so heavy and swollen and at time i get a disgusted feeling. There is a posibilty of me being pregnant that is, if i ovulated and that was supposed to be my upcoming period. Ive taken hpt's (neg) and gyno gave me provera to kick start my periods again. Who knows with this birth control. Anywho, do you or anyone you know have got off depo, havent had a period, and found out they were pregnant?

I was taking Depo from Oct 2001 (after birth of my 2nd child) - Aug 2003 ( I voluntary stopped). I asked the dr how long would it take me to conceive my 3rd baby. He told me since on it more than 24 months, it could take 12 -18 months to get my period back and after that I would be able to conceive with no problem. My husband and I figured that would be perfect timing as far as spacing ages out between our 2nd and 3rd child. ( By the way I am a heavier set woman) Well in Dec 2003 I signed up for some commuinty college classes, which I had to have a physicall at the end of Jan 2004. I went to physicall, nurse and dr said I was pregnant, since I had not started my period yet they did not know how far along I was and neither did I. I went for an U/S the next day and they asked me if I wanted to know the sex of the baby, and I said yes when it is time. She said she could tell me that day! (being a mother already, I know that between 18 - 20 weeks is usually when you can tell the sex of the baby). She was born May 19th 2004, just 4 1/2 months after I found out I was pregnant. She was considered to be full term, even though she was 3 lbs 13 oz and 17 in. She did not have any problems with her breathing, heart, devolpment, nothing wrong. She did stay in NICU for 8 days to do every test in the book to make sure nothing wrong.
Sorry long story, but wanted you to know yes I was on depo, never had a period and got pregnant.

I was on depo for 8 years. When I stopped taking it I had sex, sometimes with protection and sometimes without, for 3 years. Thats how long it took me to get pregnant. My periods never were normal after the depo. I'd go 3 or 4 months without one, then get a heavy one. Sometimes I'd go a few months getting one every month. Anyway, when I finally did get pregnant, I didn't know. I thought I was just going another long stretch without a period. I din't find out until I was almost 5 months along. I'm a big chick so I didn't show, no morning sickness, soreness, etc. If you think you MAY be pregnant, you should find a free clinic to go get a pregnancy test done. If its positive they'll give you an ultrasound to tell you how far along you may be. Then they'll refer you to a prenatal clinic.
