Spiritually speaking who has young children?
What's the going rate for babysitting one three-year-old? He's an angel, of course, brilliant too. It will only be an hour and a half, two max.
Historically we have had aunts and grandmas fighting to watch him, but that just isn't going to work this time. We know the babysitter's mother. She is a senior in high school and an honor student. I guess that doesn't prove she's a great babysitter but I have confidence that she's responsible. It will be roughly two hours in the evening, won't be late. So, at least $10 per hour, maybe more?

I paid my sitter $10/hour when I had just one and now I pay $15 because I have two. I'm of the opinion that you get what you pay for. There is also the fact that sitters are in charge of your most precious possessions.
Also, remember to ask for references and alternate contact numbers. My sitter is a teen and I have her parents numbers as well.
$10/hr is good...looks like that is indeed the going rate now.

Depends on the part of the country you are in, and the age of the babysitter. An adult? I would pay $20 for two hours. A teen I would pay $10. I live in SoCal. But since we have FOUR children, we don't hire babysitters often. Unless it's a grandma! They work for kisses and hugs.

I'd go with $7-$8/hr, depending on the babysitter, child and time of day. I have 2 little boys, ages 4 1/2 and 15 months and I'd probably go with $10- $12/hr depending on time of day and what the babysitter would have to do. both my boys are well behaved...if they weren't, I'd pay more (or not go out).
Source(s): *sigh* prices sure have changed...I used to get paid $3-$5/hr for 2 kids back in the early 90's... - Anonymous1 decade ago
I'd give twenty dollars for 2 hours, depending on if it is a late night or what not. Also more if the babysitter is hot

Depends on who you get.
One of the workers at our son's daycare used to do babysitting on the side, and we'd pay her $12 per hour -- a bit pricey, perhaps, but it's worth the peace of mind knowing that she's an adult trained in first aid and CPR should Something Bad happen while we're away...

I would ask the babysitter to name the price. She may do it cheaper if it is at your house.

Oh, I also have teenage children so it is free. Sorry
