Where ar the brakes in a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis?
Does a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis just have front ot back brakes, or does it have both? Just trying to figure out what I need to buy to change them. I have no shaking when I stop, but I heard its a good idea to do a "surface cut" of the rooter, is this true? Thanx

If you need to ask such a ridiculous question here about your brakes, you obviously do not have sufficient knowledge to even consider doing any work on them.
Pay the money and have them done professionally lest you injure or kill yourself, or worse yet, someone else.

you have front and rear brakes.the front do 75 percent of the stopping you have disk brakes in front and it may or may not have disk in the rear it may have drums in the rear not sure i am a chevy mechanic my self the rotors should not need to be turned "surface cut" unless the rivets that hold the brakes together have dug in the rotor most cars today have disposable rotors they make them to thin to turn so you just buy replacements if they are smooth no grooves and no shaking when you apply the brakes that means there not Bent so they are probably still good you can have them measured to see it they are in the tolerable thickness range you might get away with changing the front pads this time they wear a lot faster than the rear ones have someone check the rear to see if they are still good hope this helps

Pull the plug - it might desire to be your undertaking. bear in mind - the pc is figuring out what's a omit hearth; the hollow would desire to be off purely a pair of thousandths and be firing a tiny bit too late, however the pc says that's a omit hearth. do this - pass the coil to a diverse plug, & see if the omit strikes too...

Are you serious? Every car made has both front and rear brakes. Maybe you should think about someone with the know how to do this job.

Yeah every vehicle has both. And yes you should get them turned or "surface cut" as some will call it every now and then. I usually get them turned every other time I change the pads.

If your asking these (dumb) questions, I suggest you let someone else do your brakes. Not one of your friends either.
