Conservative Christians: Do you often or ever consider these things about Jesus?

As a progressive Christian theologian, I wonder if the fact that Jesus spent much time with and helping people of poor reputation, such as tax collectors, shepherds, Samaritans, prostitutes, lepers and others (and told us to do the same) conflicts with your brand of the faith? I also wonder what you think of the fact that Jesus advocated socialism and sharing the wealth over the accumulation of wealth? Does that conflict with the American belief that we should accumulate as much wealth as we can? He also advocated love for all our brothers and sisters without conditions and told us not to judge them for ANY reason and to be tolerant. What is your take on that? He also never said anything at all regarding homosexuality (Paul did but he was addressing a specific problem with one church) being wrong nor did he ever address abortion and there were abortions in his day. Could the conservative legalistic view of the faith be too judgmental or indeed a completely misguided view of the faith? Finally, does it bother you that Paul directly contradicts Jesus teachings many times? Shouldn't we defer to Jesus teachings in these cases? Thoughtful answers appreciated.

Peace!

Yowza! That made entirely too much sense! Be prepared for the fires of hell to be thrust upon your heretical head. Wish I could explain lack of thought, laziness of belief, willful ignorance to things that are uncomfortable.

Haha, that would desire to be humorous, yet no. Christianity is great-unfold, so it only isn't pronounced each time a Christian does some thing undesirable - to the ingredient that many Christians will strongly insist that Hitler replaced into an atheist and finally end up enraged whilst somebody factors out the actuality.

Excellent points. I noticed several others complimenting you and I also noticed that no critic answered you questions. Hmm?

Guess they can't. i do not claim to be a perfect person or perfect Christian and I sense yo do not either. These are excellent introspective points you make. The only partial attempts to answer your question deal with the homosexuality issue and the cited samples are vague. True, Jesus never confronted that issue or abortion and Paul does contradict Jesus many times.

Anyway i enjoyed reading your question

We should be doing what God and Jesus told us to do. The problem is that many hearts are on themselves or the idols of this world. To be honest, I know at times my heart and attention are... distracted.

I would suggest you look again about the homosexuality.

    Matthew 15:19

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

    Mark 7:21

For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

Homosexuality is definitely always been part of sexual immorality and although many place it higher than pornography, marital infidelity, sex outside marriage etc... it is all sexual immorality!

An old book by Henry Drummond talks about where our hearts should be and love and our relationship with God in his book "The Greatest thing in the World" and I think it has alot to teach the modern church. If nothing else it should show the church that a sermon should teach and can take more than 10 minutes, the entire book is one sermon of his!

Paul was instructed by God. God showed me the Bible is true. You appear to like adding to the Bible anything that suits your own point of view.
