can you help me solve these Log and exponent problems?

My final is coming up and I have no notes from this early of the year.. If someone could help walk me through these, that would be wonderful!

log(Small 8) 175=

The answer is 2.48 but I cannot remember how to get that answer..

e^x = 116

[The answer is around 4.75]

3(2)^x = 1944

[The answer is 9.34]

5^(x+1) = 7^(2x-3)

[The answer is around 3.26]

ln x = 2.2

[The answer is 9.03]

A bacteria population is increasin 12.2% an hour. How long will it take the population to quadruple?

On log 8 175, make it equal x. Then write as an exponential:8^x = 175

Then take common log of both sides making the exponent become a factor:

    x log 8 = log 175

Then divide both sides on a calculator by log 8

For e^x = 116, take the natural log (ln) of both sides because e^ and ln are inverses and "cancel" each other

    ln (e^x) = x

so x = ln 116; do it on the calc

For the next, divide both sides by 3 then do like #1

    Then take log both sides getting (x + 1) log 5 = (2x - 3) log 7

Multiply out and solve for x

for lnx = 2.2 do e^ both sides to cancel out the ln

    e ^ (ln x) = x

    so x = e^ 2.2

Then solve 4 = 1 (1.122)^t by taking log both sides as in #1
