How can I remove tadpoles from a pond in my yard.?
I have been away and turned off the fountain in my yard during that time..When I came back there were thousands of small tadpoles in my pond..I don't have any fish but I do like the birds and other forms of nature using the pond for drinking or birdbaths etc..The problem is,,I don't want 1000 of frogs jumping around all over and around the pond. Can I add something that will not effect the birds if they drink it but kill the tadpoles..???I was thinking clorox but will that hurt the birds at all ..and will it even kill the tadpoles...I wouldn't care if there were only some but the tadpoles are all over and than there would be frogs all over if I don't get rid of them now. Please suggest help if you know how...Thanks.

Good luck. I chased tadpoles for 5 years and the only thing that helped was placing a giant Oscar fish in the pond he liked to eat tadpoles!

The tadpoles won't be there for more than a week and the birds will eat some of them before they can get to adults; frogs are part of the natural side of pest control. They eat bugs and small rodents, etc that you would not want in your yard. They are also good to keep the mosquitoes down because they eat the larvae in the pond.

I had thousands of tadpoles in my pond. I put some bass in there and it was over for them. I think maybe some blue gill bream will work also. I wouldn't object to frogs around my pond. They eat tons of insects. A few frogs that invaded my shed has kept the roach population at bay. Any poison that would kill tadpoles is not environmentally safe.

scoop them out with a net, put them in a bucket, and dump the tadpoles in the nearest lake or body of water.

1- remove them with a net
2 - Pour some pesticides in the water
3 - drain the pond
to me, the first and third are more humane.
