I'm a travel agent and I've put together the packages for a lot of the people going to Cancun for Black Beach Week or the Jump-Off as it is also called. That being said, I am also African American and can give some good input. Cancun is pretty much party central year round. Big holidays will always draw a large crowd, so there will still be a really good mix of people down there for that weekend. As with all travel destination during busy times just apply the normal amount caution. Don't go anywhere alone with anyone, watch your drinks, etc etc. Also, since most of the activities are in the northern part of the Cancun Strip is should be fairly easy to avoid any activities/people that you don't want to be around. There are plenty of quiet areas and plenty of night clubs and bars that won't be part of the event. Last, don't play into the hype. Most of the people going for the jump-off are young professionals and even couples. I would be more cautious going there during college spring break as Cancun has the highest rate of accidents etc during this time. There will always be shady people looking to take advantage of big events like this but the majority of people are just there to have a good time.

Cancun is definitely an open door to your dream holiday just similar to this place hotelbye to get there. Cancun delivers state-of-the-art lodge services among the coolest clubs, bars, and centers only some feet away from the most beautiful beaches on earth. One of many areas you'll need to see may be the Isla Mujeres. Here, the great breezes blow across the island through the day and night and here you will enjoy: the snorkelling, the diving, the swimming with dolphins, the remote beaches for moonlight hikes and individual interactions, and results of waterfront restaurants surrounded by good shopping and lovely organic scenery. If you are buying a Cancun destination spot to relax, Isla Mujeres is the spot to come.

  • Well, we're having 3 graduations from H.S. next Friday. Our Nephew and God Daughter are in the same class so, they're local. We'll go to that one to see them both. Our other nephew is in a neighboring county and we're unable to see his ceremony due to it being the same day at the same time. The graduation party for the two local ones is Sat. Sunday is usually Decoration Day where we have sunday service at an outdoor tabernacle at a cemetary that has a good part of my Mom's side of the family buried. They decorate the graves with flowers and it's like a mini family reunion. The family gets together and has lunch afterwords. Not sure if we'll go this year for that it's 2hrs. away. Memorial day we may bbq. Not sure yet.

Safe travels to you if you leave home. Happy Memorial Day to you and yours.

I'll be at the Barsstown Valley resort in Young Harris, GA in the North Georgia Mountains on my RV cooking some BBQ in a BBQ contest. Sounds like fun - huh?

I have to study. Because there was a snow day on March 1st they decided to have a class on the day the final was scheduled and move the test into the next week. That's the bad news.

Good news is that I graduate on Friday!

Hi Scooter. I am often so unaware of "Holidays" but this one will be special in a few ways. Thank you for the reminder.

We will gather at a place first to honor those in my family who have served and are gone, then pray for those now serving who we worry over.

Then at some point we will stop the tears, the dwelling on negatives or sad notions, and celebrate LIFE, with respect.

    Hugs on you sweet man.

  • I'll be going out of town for a couple of days, not sure where yet. I like spontaneous decisions, I'm leaning towards going to Chicago because I really want to go to the History Museum there. But, that may change, could go to Wisconsin Dells and shop and ride roller coasters all day...not sure. The possibilities!!!
