How will Nanci Pelosi beat the waterboarding rap?

Its inevitable with the Democrats in control of Congress and the news media that she will bear no consequences for playing dumb as waterboarding was going on during the Bush Administration. I just want to know what trick will be employed that the general public will lap up like a dog licking antifreeze off the driveway.

Ultimately she'll play the gender card and start blubbering and sobbing on Meet the Press about how mean spirited and chauvinistic the GOP is.

don't worry...the deranged drooling sheeple will regurgitate PuffHo and DailyKooks talking points as per their programming until the rest of the country allows the whole issue to 'fade away' if for no other reason than to get a break from the bleating of the left-wing media apologists, and the baroness of botox, san fran's own Frau Blucher (WHINNY!!!!), will find some new way to demonstrate that she is, indeed, corrupt, dishonest, and permanently 'stuck on stupid'

There is no rap to beat. The Ranking Member of the Intelligence Committee (Pelosi's position at the time she may have learned the information) is not in the chain of command for the CIA or the Military. So she faces no potential criminal liability. At most, she failed to blow the whistle on some probably illegal activities by the White House.

The ones who have to worry about the waterboarding rap are those executive branch officials who conspired to authorize torture in violation of U.S. law.

She should step down as Speaker. Not because she allowed the water boarding (I support that), but for acting like she was so appalled by it and trying to blame it on Bush.

There's no rap to beat. On the contrary, as the Bush administration torture scandal gets closer and closer to full Congressional hearings the policy makers get closer and closer to federal prosecution for war crimes which will come attached with serious prison time in a SuperMax facility one hopes, followed by the inevitable civil law suits for millions and millions in damages filed by those who were tortured.

The many Bush administration underlings, like Scooter Libby, for example, will be facing imprisonment for years and financial ruin with no friendly Republican president standing ready to pervert justice. The rats will be overboard and in the water so quickly your head will spin. And then Cheney and Addington and Libby, again, and Tenet and Rumsfeld and Rove and Alberto and Mitchell and Jessen Associates et al eventually will be tried and convicted and sentenced to prison for a very long time. Indeed, congressional hearings might as well be called the Washington, DC criminal law bar full employment act.

Speaker Pelosi committed no crime, nor did she aid and abet any Bush administration officials in the commission of their crimes. So please don't worry yourself about the Speaker of the House, she'll be fine.

Sen. Bob Graham backs up Pelosi and says he was never briefed on waterboarding by the CIA

This is a smokescreen by Republicans, because Republicans are concerned about Congress holding the Truth Commission, which you know is going to be the parallel to the 9/11 Commission.

The issue here is that everybody knows that waterboarding is torture. And that was an approved policy. It is torture! Everyone knows that. And that was the policy of the Bush administration. Why don't we talk about that?

Funny how Pelosi keeps changing her story and each time Dems. believe her. She will beat it because she's a democrat. And lying, cheating and beating raps is what they do best.

The only way to get rid of a sitting Speaker of the House is for people in her own party to tell her it is time to go. We are talking about Democrats here, so this is unlikely.

Dick Cheney: Why So Chatty All of a Sudden?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/08599189785000

That is just stage 3 of the argument.

    1) Water boarding is not torture.

    2) Ok, it is torture but it worked! The end justifies the means.

    3) No one stopped us so its their fault too.

They are saying that failing to be a whistle blower makes you guilty. That is not how the law works.

Had Pelosi taken a stand then (assuming she was fully informed) what would have been done to her? Prosecuted her for revealing information concerning National Security. Labeled her as being "with the terrorist" locked her up in a secret place or arranged her untimely death.

Look at what happened to that CIA operative who's husband dared to question the Presidents actions. Libby blew her cover, was convicted then Bush made sure he served no prison time. Cheney was angry he was not given a FULL PARDON!

The CIA needs to come clean about the Bush Administration but they have reasons to fear doing that. So attacking Pelosi is a safer course.

Mean while people who ordered the torture and preformed the torture are out of the spotlight. This will go on till we forget all about the torture itself.

She now has someone who varifies what she said.

    Huffington Post article with you:

Graham: CIA Gave Me False Information About Interrogation Briefings

"As for the one briefing he did attend, the Florida Democrat said that he had "no recollection that issues such as waterboarding were discussed." He was not, per the sensitive nature of the matters discussed, allowed to take notes at the time. But he did highlight what he considered to be pretty strong proof that the controversial technique was not discussed."
