My computer comes up on the XP disk & prepairs to load XP than a blue screen comes up with this error message.?

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adaquate disk space. If a driver is inentified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. 

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I think pci.sys is the driver alluded to in the verbiage.  A quick web search for it dug up this link that might help:

If you've made any hardware changes lately, try booting into the Safe Mode screen, then choosing Last Good Configuration.

Boot to the Safe Mode screen by pressing the F8 key repeatedly when the machine starts booting.

Er yep the PCI driver is butchered.
If a driver is inentified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates.
In this case get the updates. If you disable the driver you may loose the video. Other than that just follow the instructions.

start your computer in "SAFE MODE" to determine the cause of the error. It could be a number of things. My guess without looking at it is that ur ide cable is not connected good. To check this you will have to open ur computer case. If your not sure what you r doing let someone wit knowledge of computers check for u.

The infamous blue screen of death. Google the stop code number and find a link on microsoft's site. That'll give you a better indication of exactly what the problem could be. Everytime I get those, I just format.
