re. Global warming - What temperature should the earth be?
What is our goal here? Warmer, cooler... stay the same? Think about it, do we even know what outcome we are hoping for, much less how to get there? I would actually think that a few degrees warmer would be a very good thing for most people and most animals.

When you consider that the 1934 and 1998 peaks of the current optimum are more than 1.5 degrees colder than the global average for the last 10,000 years I think the panic hype is just a little over done. When you consider that the average temperature for the last 1,000 years is over .5 degrees hotter than the 1934 and 1998 peaks that our climate alarmists find so alarming I find them amusing to say the least. In matter of fact the current climate optimum they find so alarming is the coldest climate optimum of the last 10,000 years, usually they are at least 1 degree warmer that we have experienced this time around.

>>>A few degrees warmer means, we are back before the ice age, in late pleistocene or may be earlier. This means a rise of sea level which will drown most of the coastal areas human majority lives in today.<<<
Interesting how we all look at this issue through our own self serving windows. People in Holland are probably afraid of global warming because the ocean could rise a few meters. Since it has already risen 120 meters in the past 120 centuries, that is certainly possible. But the starving peoples of the world probably see global warming as a major benefit since warmer temperatures along with more CO2 will result in better crop yields. Some will deny the truth of that, but during the Jurassic period, the earth was the greenest and plushest it has ever been. That we know to be true.

Why do you have to be so worried about global warming anyway? Why can't you just forget about What might happen if it does happen, and just make sure it doesent!?
About 63,000,000 years ago there was a dinosaure age. it was proven to be extreemly hot in that period. Then about 10,000 years before now, there was an Ice age. There is a more likely chance that if global warming did happen, it would be caused by the earth its self rather than us. The earth is constantly on this climate rollar coaster, and no matter what comes for us next, we can't prevent it. God's work has its strength, and we can't stop what the earth does.
Heres something you might have heard about- Every 10,000,00 years, the earth has a wobble. This wobble changes the earths climate and environment so rapid and extreemly, it causes such changes as an Ice age that lasts at least 3 genorations.
But don't worry about it. Were far from these changes, Just live your life, and be happy. Don't be a worry wart.
But heres what I hate: Whatever happens to us, Will effect us. but these Dam roaches will still be here X( ;)

The temperature records are not considered unreliable by most scientists. You can quote a few, but the vast majority disagree. In part that's because the temperature record is created by so many INDEPENDENT sources. Weather organizations all over the world. Satellite data. Data from the oceans (80% of the total, and measured in multiple ways). And more. They agree. In part it's because the evidence of warming, measured by COMPLETELY different scientists, confirms the temperature data. Melting Arctic ice, sea levels rising, earlier Springs, secies migrations; the list goes on and on. In scientific terms, the database is ROBUST, insensitive to any error in one part of it. The idea that one organization could fake it is utterly ludicrous. It's correct, or it's the biggest conspiracy the Earth has ever seen.

The earth should be not any particular temperature. It is down to nature to decide the temperature at any time. The earth has been warmer and cooler than it is now. We should adapt to what we are living with, and not try to interfere. Anything could happen if we do.

You're right, it's a good question to ask.
Scientists have spent years working out the effect of increased temperatures. The IPCC have brought together a lot of that work:
http://www.ipcc.ch/ipccreports/ar4-wg2.htm
They conclude that the effects will depend on the temperature rise and the country. Which is kind of obvious when you think about it: somewhere that's almost a desert is going to be worse off if you make it hotter and drier. Meanwhile, warming up Canada is probably good.
Overall, current consensus seems to be that up to 2C warming relative to pre-industrial is a net good for humanity. Above that, it's a net bad.
Current mid-range projections are about a 3C rise.

Not sure of the temp., but Global Warming is a big moneymaking scam. We're in for a 30 year cooling:

Here's articles from a long time, respected meteorologist on the global warming scam. If the government acts on the scam of global warming, everyones electric bills will be up 5 TIMES what they are now.:

If you only look at geological timescales you are perfectly right. 5 degrees warmer would be a perfect world to live in.
There is only one little problem. Live will adapt to these new conditions, there is no question at all. Arctic ecosystems will break down, but this doesnt matter on this global scale, because crocodiles will move to canada and sweden and i like them :-)
Now the problem...this takes time. and the big question is, when it is not a problem for the earth, it will be a major problem for human civilisation.
A few degrees warmer means, we are back before the ice age, in late pleistocene or may be earlier. This means a rise of sea level which will drown most of the coastal areas human majority lives in today.
If you look what happens, if sea level only rises 2m (that will happen if we rise temperatures with only 2-3 degrees) you will see, that this generates about 1 to 2 BILLION refugees, not only in Bangladesh, in USA too.
What does this mean.....Hold temperatures at present level, or prepare for new neighbors (as i do, because i live about 130m over sea level) or prepare to move, if you live like one of my friends in the Netherlands, already 6m under sea level (he will get problems with only 30 cm sea level rise). (They have big walls against North Sea and huge pump stations to drain the water, but they are not capable for much more)

It is much worse than that. 100 years ago the accuracy was possible plus and minus 2 deg F.It is near impossible to average the worlds temp.Check the math rules for averaging. How spaced is there samples. There is nothing calibrated.

It depends on what caused the global warming. Pollution- 312F Sun-1,300 And other causes are unknown. Be happy- Reduse reuse and recycle! we wont want or need to be prepared for Global warming!
