What's it cost to install central AC?

it depends if the duct work for the house is already sized for Air Conditioning....if not then it will be very expensive....if so then maybe $5000

There are other ductless non-invasive air conditioning systems that do not require a window. There are also systems that use a mini duct system that can be fished through the walls. I strongly recommend looking in to these systems if the central heating system ducts that you currently have were not designed for air conditioning.

Air conditioning ducts need to move a lot more air than heating. They need to be larger in volume.

Depending on the age and capabilities of your current central heating system most contractors will probably tell you that you need to replace it in order to accomodate and air conditioner coil. This may or may not be true, but don't surprised if you are hearing that sales pitch.

Keep your current heating system as is and go ductless. Unless you have a bundle of money to get the entire system overhauled and done right with a damn good warrenty you should do a lot of research.

Besides you can live without AC in LA come on. We should all be so lucky.

substantial A/C would properly be put in in any domicile that has an attic, or a sub floor(crawlspace). you may choose the two to get air to all rooms in a 2-tale domicile. Your unit will in all probability comprise a furnace and you have got forced warmth too!
