Why does Pedrioa get so much credit as opposed to say, Jimmy Rollins?
I mean seriously. All I hear from everyone is how scrappy Dustin is. oh he's so special. there has never been a little player as good as him, blah blah blah
JRoll is smaller and plays a harder position. During his MVP season, he had I think more impressive numbers, but how come he never is talked about as a scrappy little guy?
it's cause Pedroia is white, huh?

Jimmy Rollins gets plenty of pub and praise. The problem is YOUR perception. You think Rollins is snubbed because you are looking for examples of racism, and in fact create these instances in your mind to justify your beliefs.
BTW, any racial innuendo should bother Pedroia fans more than Rollins fans. Quite often, when a white player shows skill or talent at a sport, he is labeled, "scrappy", or "gutsy". This is because of racial stereotypes that say white athletes are inferior to black athletes and need to maximize what little talent they have to excel. Absolute hogwash.

I think Rollins gets plenty of credit. He was the '07 MVP and defending World Series Champion. I think the problem is Rollins is on the same team as Howard and Utley. It's amazing that he even won that MVP to start with with those two taking some of the votes from him. He gets a little overshadowed by those guys because he is such a team player and doesn't seek attention.
Why does Pedroia get more attention? That's simple. He plays for Boston.

It may have to do with Pedroia playing for the Red Sox. They probably have the second largest market in the game and they are always on ESPN for games of the week. I agree with you that Rollins deserves a lot more credit then what he gets. It's just that Pedroia is just won an MVP and is the big thing for a while.

Um
Jimmy Rollins won the MVP.
And for that point:
Pedroia's career OBP: .373. season OBP: .410
Rollins's career OBP: .331, season OBP: .240 (!!!!)
Juan Pierre gets called scrappy, too. Simply put, Pedroia the past 1+ seasons has been better.
Not to mention Philly gives all their felatio power to Ryan Howard anyway.

Pedroia sucks anyway. Justin Morneau should have won the MVP last year, but since the red sox are a bigger-market, their players get favored. its bull ****.

Duh. They are in different leagues. Pedroia is a slugger, which is surprising for his size. Both are respected players. As for the race thing, it seems like a certain Phillies first baseman is the national spokesman for Subway.

ESPN plain and simple...they hate Philly, I'm watching ESPN news right now for highlights, no credit for Rollins breaking out of his slump or ever RAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL's banner day. Give me Mitchie-Poo on MLB anyday
