What did enlisted men bring to basic training camps in WW2?

What were they supposed to bring? What could they bring? I have to make a scrap book from the point of view of a veteran that worked on a ship called Enterprise. ( World War Two )

I know some guys showed up with something as large as a guitar. Some came with just a razor blade and their civies (Civilian clothes). Some had framed photos and religious trinkets. But no one brought very much. The Military of course provided everything the guys would need. Extra items beyond that such as cologne, a particular brand of shampoo, and even food snacks were available for purchase at the base commissary.

I think they brought the stuffs that will take care of our basic needs like clothing and toiletries. It is also important to bring something that will remind them of their home and their families like a picture of their love one. And, something that would enlighten them, a book perhaps or the bible or Quran or some hand games that they can find leisure.

After Grandad and his friends were released from Siberia in 1941 they enlisted. Their clothes (which were full of parasites) were burned, their heads were shaved and they were given new clothing by the army.
