Catfish hunt with smell AND their lateral line(movement).

Slowly bleeding live bait fish (hook through it usually does the job).

Any food you have that smells HORRIBLE works. I had OLD hot dogs work, worms always work (size doesn't matter with the worms, cats love them), and shrimp. The shrimp can smell horrible as hell, be dead as a door nail, and they will LOVE it.

Like they all say, cats love the bottom of the water you fish on.

I usually drop the bait to the BOTTOM of the water (if you can without getting snagged on logs) and roll my reel up twice... Takes it a foot or so off the bottom right into the catfish's face.

Good dough bait recipe is crushed up wheaties or cornflakes, just a bit of flour and strawberry pop.mix together until it makes nice doughy balls and put on a baitholder hook. You can add a little srtawberry jello (in the powder form) to your chicken livers too.Leopard frogs, catalpa worms and dip bait are my favorite for channel cat.For flathead use live shad, black perch or bullheads.Good luck!Have fun!

Chicken liver. Get a size 4 treble hook, and just put the chunk of liver on the hook. You use a 3/4 oz. sliding weight sinker. Fish on the bottom.

    Happy fishing.

my favorite bait is "little smokey" sausages soaked overnight in anise oil. it works even better if you have a vacuum food sealer. I agree with backwater charlie about the hook and weight combination.

catch a fish from the body of water you are fishing in - then cut it up into pieces. Cut bait works great

If your after really big catfish, Live Bream, Hand size.

Live bait...the bigger the bait fish, the bigger the cat.
