What are some of the easiest veggies/fruits to grow for a beginning gardener?

We want to start our first garden this year and would really appreciate some tips...what veggies and fruits are the easiest to grow? We're not picky eaters and will grow anything!

Thanks for your help :)

I am also starting my first garden this year. I started carrots, green onions, cucumber, zucchini squash, and tomatoes. I find tomatoes and onions the easiest as well as squash. Don't start the seeds yourself though. It's worth it to go buy the starter plants. They are cheap and much easier to start if you're a beginner! Hope this helps!

Squash is easiest to grow in my opinion. Also Sweet Cherry 100 and Early Girl tomatoes are very easy too.

You didn't say where you are.... If the Northern Hem. we are getting into summer, so heat loving. Squash is right, as are the hybrid tomatoes that were mentioned. Beans are heat lovers and fairly easy. Wait for cooler weather and you can do radishes and turnips, very easy. Kale and chard are good ones but you will have to watch them to make sure they don't "bolt", go to flower. A fast growing hybrid sweet corn might work for you also.
