i need some help with finding meaningful volunteer services?

i'm the current service chair for my key club, and i am having a tremendously hard time trying to find meaningful services [soup kitchens, etc.] that are a reasonable distance away

whenever i book services, i try to think of the members' time and the distance, evidently that's not enough.

so i am open to any suggestions for meaningful services

i know of such services, but the problem is, i don't think members can be driven all the way to los angeles or somewhere far, which is why i am trying to find something both meaningful and at a reasonable distance.

so please, help me. and by meaningful service, i mean NOTHING like clapping for the runners at a marathon -.-

Only because I don't know what all avenues you've looked into, have you contacted any autism, Down Syndrome, spina bifida, breast cancer etc. societies for local events? Or, even if they're not as local as would be wanted, they could still be utilized for bigger, planned-in-the-future service opportunities, so that arrangements for rides might be made will in advance.

( Personally, I feel that if you have solid service plans, members should feel obligated to literally go the extra mile to complete a service. I understand the importance of convenience, but without a *teeny* bit of sacrifice on our part, the service isn't as meaningful to us. If you haven't already, I say stand up on your soapbox and let 'em have it. )

Also, check with the city hall for opportunities to help people around the community. I'm not sure how it works for larger cities, but that's something that our town here in Florida does. What about senior care homes?

    Good luck!

You are in the wrong place. I live in middle east, how would i know a thing?

Even people in your country would maybe help you out.

Knock doors, walk the mile and check out yourself asking your LOCAL companies, establishments, ngo's etc

Good it is to do good! Rare is this gem of a person who do not know that even little good benefits one many fold.

http://reachoutamericaonline.org/ is a nonprofit that is focused on sending sick and special needs kids (and their parental units if necessary) to camp with other kids like themselves. Their intent is to also provide help and assistance to the families after the fact as well. Maybe sponsor a camp or child in your area.
