You gotta look at it from two positions. The people who are for it and against it. The people who are aganist it see it as bad because they think it kills brain cells and people die over large deals that being said you gotta look at the peopl who are for it.
Weed dosent kill as many brain cells as people think, even if it did, who cares? cigretts can cause cancer, drinking can cause liver failure, and both of thoes are addicting, and legal! Weed has proven to be NON-addicting, the acting ingredient in weed is Tetrahydrocannabinol AKA THC, and you can't be addicted to it. Another reason for it to be legal is that California spends over 1 billion dollors a year on catching NON-VIOLENT drug offenders. If they made it legal theyd have to lower their prices to half of what illegal drug dealers are charging and put a tax on it and they'd be making over 1.3 billion a year! Our jails and prisons are already over crowded so making it legal whould help that too. Even Thomas Jefferson made a statement on it.
Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country."
- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President quote on Hemp
Also many people that are religeous say that God dosent want you to smoke it, well God made plants and plants exiested before people and no matter what you do with weed, you get high from it.
Also Weed isn't a drug, it's natural, drugs have to have things added to them, for example crack, and heroine. Weed just comes from the plant and no one has ever died from weed, whens the last time you head of a dude dead in a ditch with a joint in his hand? Never.
So if it was legalized we would make money, free up jail and prision space, most likely see less people dying over deals, and most of all please the people
Go weed!

$113 billion is spent on marijuana every year in the U.S., and because of the federal prohibition *every* dollar of it goes straight into the hands of criminals. Far from preventing people from using marijuana, the prohibition instead creates zero legal supply amid massive and unrelenting demand. The scale of the harm this causes far exceeds any benefit obtained from keeping marijuana illegal. According to the ONDCP, at least sixty percent of Mexican drug cartel money comes from selling marijuana in the U.S., they protect this revenue by brutally torturing, murdering and dismembering countless innocent people. If we can STOP people using marijuana then we need to do so NOW, but if we can't then we must legalize the production and sale of marijuana to adults with after-tax prices set too low for the cartels to match. One way or the other, we have to force the cartels out of the marijuana market and eliminate their highly lucrative marijuana incomes - no business can withstand the loss of sixty percent of its revenue! To date, the cartels have amassed more than 100,000 "foot soldiers" and operate in 230 U.S. cities, and it's now believed that the cartels are "morphing into, or making common cause with, what would be considered an insurgency" (Secretary of State Clinton, 09/09/2010). The longer the cartels are allowed to exploit the prohibition the more powerful they'll get and the more our own personal security will be put in jeopardy.

Going to preface this by saying that I am NOT a pot smoker, this is the opinion of someone on the outside of the issue.
Yes, it should be legal.
1. It's less harmful than legal drugs, like alcohol, tobacco, or even caffeine. Much, much less harmful than many prescription drugs too.
2. Even though it's illegal, it's still easier for underage people to get pot than it is to get alcohol.
3. If anyone can go out and get pot so easily, where is the money we're spending on preventing it going? It's a waste of tax money, and all of the illegal sales of pot fuels cartels and gangs.

Well, uh, because it shouldn't be. I know that it may be unconstitutional seeming to some of you, but this country can do without any drugs. Tobacco is already bad enough, and now people want their weed. I don't think it'll ever happen guys, and for the better. It is horribly addicting, and we don't want to increase death rates, which marijuana, would almost certainly do. Nobody needs drugs when they start them, and the only thing that can happen is that you will either die early and wish you had never tried it or that you go through the painful process of rehibilitation for the rest of your life. America can do without on this one.
