I was just prescribed 25mg of Lamictal on top of a few other meds I was already taking...?

I've been taking 300mg Effexor XR, 30mg Abilify, 4mg klonopin and now 25mg of Lamictal for mood swings that have developed within the past few months. My psych assured me the med combo was safe but I'm concerned about side effects. He warned me of a rash that may appear if my dose is too high. Has anyone taken this combo of meds before or any similar combo and how well did your body adjust to it? I've been diagnosed with major depression with psychotic features, anxiety/panic disorder, PTSD and mild OCD. Recently my meds have not seems to be helping and that's why he added the Lamictal. Any opinions? I'm curious about other's experiences with this med.

Update:

I had never heard of this med before and I read a bit about it online but I want to hear from people who have taken it.

Update 2:

Yeah, he told me about the Stevens-Johnson syndrome and that's why we're starting so low. He said he wants to get me up to at least 100mg. Then, in the future, depending how I feel there is a possibility I may get off the Effexor and Abilify.

I do take/have taken all of the drugs you mentioned. 25mg is a very small dose. I am not even sure if it is therapeutic and that dose. The thing about the rash is the big concern with lamictal. If it is allowed to progress it can spread over your entire body, and you will get what they call Stevens-Johnson syndrome. It can kill you. That isn't anything to get scared about because it almost always happens when someone takes too much, too quickly. Your doctor is starting at a tiny dose and I think he is going to increase it the next time you see him. I take 150mg at the moment, but I used to take 400mg. Lamictal is a very effective drug for treating mood disorders. It is also available in generic now so you can buy it pretty cheap.

I have been on the same combo of medication.

effexor is worse on your body then any other drug, and I take poor care of my body and effexor scares me. get off of effexor or say goodbye to your liver. I have been taking this and it has replaced all my meds.

FYI: it's not generic, so either get samples or buy it online from Jansdrugs.com
