Benefits of being a registered Chippewa Indian in Michigan?

I have a friend who just lost her job. She is a registered Chippewa, but has never taken advantage of any benefits. I know she can get healthcare at designated facilities, and from what I've heard, she's entitled to receive checks from the casinos. What other benefits might she be eligible for? Just in case she can't find another job before finances run dry.

Where is your fiend enrolled? Each tribe has separate guidelines for who is eligible to receive what. I find it hard to believe that an enrolled Native, especially in Michigan, would be so unaware of what comes with tribal membership in the here and now. My suggestion would be to have your friend make contact with whoever they know who is also enrolled, and find these things out.

I certainly hope your friend is a member of a chippewa tribe in the lower peninsula because if not, odds are she could get some health care and maybe commodities(food assistance) other than that, no money from the tribe I'm thinking of!!!!
