We are in the process of painting a small two bedroom, one bath farm house in which I grew up. I have forgotten the exact amount, but we figured less than $1000 including the labor of a college kid to scrape and paint for about 20 hours.

Where you are, how much you intend to do yourself and what you are going to hire done, whether or not you need to prime, how much "detail" work there is...all will cause the price to vary.

As another said, you must have the size of the home wrong. An 8 foot by 10 foot storage building would be 80 square feet. A home about 20 by 40 would be 800 square feet. If you figure primer and paint each covering around 400 square feet, then two gallons of paint and two of primer at between $20 and $40 per gallon should cover an 800 square foot home comfortably. If you need additional colors for trim, add that in as well. If you don't need to prime, you can deduct that expense.

Labor will vary greatly depending on your market. We are paying about $12 per hour. If you own the home, you can figure your own labor is "free," of course.

There isn't truly a chart. Painters bid jobs, each at their own discretion. Costs vary depending on size of house, prep work involved, how many crew members will have to be paid, etc. At any rate, the PAINTERS decide what they charge and the customer decides whether or not to accept the bid! If you're researching this for potential job opportunities or a school project, try calling a painter in your area or go to a job site and see if you can pick his brain.

I think there are many different things to consider when painting your house. I think the most important one is deciding what type of paint you want and the quality of that paint. I think once you figure that out then you'll be able to have everything go smoothly. http://www.centralpennwaterproofing.com/

It varies according to size and type of paint, etc. I would find the paint that you like and then figure out how much it will cover. That's a good place to start.

Call a few paint contractors and get a few estimates.

BTW: "80 sq foot" would be a small garden shed, so you have your numbers wrong. One can of paint covers about 450 sq ft.

It depends on if you are hiring someone to do it or if you are going to do it yourself. That could change the pricing a lot. I would recommend doing it yourself if you have the time.
