Why do liberals drive around small unsafe cars, while we Conservatives love our SUV's and Hummers?

because conservatives are gas hogs who like to show off their greed and stupidity .

Although not a Republican, I am very Conservative, and hopefully a reasonable thinking individual.

I have driven very small automobiles for 25+ years, for the economy of price and mpg. My current vehicle gets an honest 38.9 mpg. On the other hand, I also own a one-ton dually diesel 4x4 for the big jobs.

I do not feel unsafe in either. It's funny how the ultra-greenees in my town sneer at me when I drive the truck, but not when they need something hauled, or are stuck in a ditch when we get 3' of snow. Then it's "hey neighbor"! In fact, they sneer at me because my small car is not a hybrid!, As if they need to have a say in what I own and why I own it!

I do notice that many folks who drive these micro-vehicles seem to have less road awareness and handling skill and that scares me. I drive about 65K+ miles a year total and actually prefer to be out on the highway at night with the tractor trailers. They are predictable and experienced drivers.

Buy and drive anything you want (while it's still a free country) but for goodness sake know how to handle what you own.

you can not call yourself smarter for trying to say conservatives and liberals are opposites. i mean i'm a liberal conservative, so one can be both. also i like how you have a sticker that says country first, with you being a conservative (which i assume you mean republican). Yet country means the actual land, and since republicans don't care much for environment that seems a little weird. And then, why would you put the country before the nation (the land before the people)? I mean what ever floats your boat, that just seems a little weird.

They drive these cars for PR only, excepting true believers like Ed Begley and Leo DiCaprio. Otherwise, those cars are either parked in there 5000 sq. ft. Climate-Controlled Garages or handed back to the dealerships they were borrowed from.

Liberals are all about "do what I say, not what I do."

If big a** gas guzzling SUV's weren't on the road the smaller vehicles would be safe and fine. Since they wouldn't be hit by inept drivers with trucks now would they?

And If everyone loved SUV's so much GM, Chrysler and Ford wouldn't have any trouble now and their plants would be running full tilt..

I own a Japanese car 6 cylinders and while a Conservative may think they have American "might" it doesn't look that way from my rear view mirror. Can't kill what you can't catch. Don't those things rollover?

I am a conservative. I drive a Kia most the time, but we also have a Lincoln as our 2nd car.

Both kinds of cars have their proper place. We use the Kia for general driving & the Lincoln as the 2nd car (when both of us need a car, the one driving the furthest usually takes the Kia) We also use the Lincoln when we have many people in the car.

It is silly for a man who uses he pick up only to drive to work and back, unless that work is at a construction site or a farm.

The article talks about the safety of smaller cars, not automobile purchase against political preference.

Conservatives might be more likely to drive SUVs and Hummers because many of them kid themselves on that global warming is a myth (all the better to drive gas-guzzling, environmentally-damaging cars!). Also because the ones that don't drive donkeys or 2-in-one mobile home/pickup truck combos probably have more money than sense.

Your hummer or SUV is only safe becasue of Liberal efforts to mandate auto safety, always and consistently opposed by conservatives. And small cars are vastly safer today then any car from 40 years ago for exactly the same reason. Fact.

A conservative does not behave like that, only an angry hateful person. Conservatives are not angry (actually I think you are a poser, but I could be wrong). What you are describing is hateful behavior that I would expect from a person that would key a car just because it didn't fit their political beliefs.

If you are truly a Conservative, don't bring yourself down to their level. You might want to have that anger thing looked into.

I proudly drive my Ford F150 truck, but I have the stars and bars on mine. I still have my "W" stickers also, and let's not forget my favorite, "Save the Country, Abort a liberal".

When I come across a liberal freak in an expensive European car displaying stickers saying how bad the last 8 years were, I wonder how they manage feed themselves. If life was so bad for this person, how could they afford a 40,000 car? How stupid must these people be? I truly feel sorry for their kids, and think we should neuter them before they have a chance to reproduce.

Oh yeah, the beauty of having a truck the size of mine is that those puny cars feel like a speed bump when you roll over them, and I can hardly hear the screaming liberals over my bad *** stereo system.
