Very acidic conditions such as a peat bog.
Anaerobic conditions such as burial in deep mud at the bottom of a lake.
Burial in permafrost that never thaws out. Or freezing and dehydrated by very dry air or wind.
Burial in resins from a pine tree that has antimicrobic properties.

1. Peat. Peat bogs have lots of undecayed material. 2. Chalk. This is formed from calcium carbonate plates that are present on one group of phytoplankton. 3. Diatomaceous earth. These are the mostly silica shells of diatoms, another kind of phytoplankton.
