92 Honda Accord, my spark plug wires won't stay in unless I remove the rubber boots. Is this safe temporarily?

I have already had my spark plug wires replaced along with a few other parts but now the wires keep popping off while I'm driving. When I try to push them back in they won't stay unless I take the rubber boot off the end of it. I'm assuming I need to get the boots from Honda to fit correctly, but is it safe to drive temporarily without the rubber boot on the spark plug wire??

yes it is safe however this is not normal, as if you try to force them carefully in, they should plug in to the top of the spark plugs and they should not come out, it is not rocket science it is very simple, you can do it your self good luck mate.

You should be ok for short term. The biggest danger would be arcing from the plug terminal to the block.

With the car in a dark or shaded spot, look along the plugs with the engine running to see if sparks are going from the plugs to the side of the engine. That should be noticeable right away with the engine running rough - poor performance and dangerous to electronic components.

You can try putting a spark plug boot lubricant on the plugs and reattach the wires. Otherwise you're right. You'll need a set from the dealer. Ouch :(

You should not drive without the boots in place they are quite hard to push into place and require some force but they should make a satisfying click when they have been pushed on correctly. You say you have already had the cables replaced I presume you replaced them with Honda leads or a generic item specific to Honda IE Halfords own brand

no you should not drive with the rubber boot off the plug wire, the boot prevents the high voltage from jumping to the engine block, this can knock out you electronic ignition SYSTEM and is expensive to replace

NO, U can go 2 a auto store, I don't think U need 2 to back to Honda.

Without the boot, the wire can short out to ground, and U won't go anywhere.

there oil in the spark plug tubes? and are you pushing them far enough? and do you have the correct wire set? The boots help prevent arcing, you'll need them.
