Yes, do spend $135 on a life. Go out to eat with your friends.
But to answer your question, the mini-laptops, also known as netbooks, tend to cost in the range of $250-$400. I recently bought an Asus Eee PC 900HD for $279 at Best Buy, and it seems to work out good so far. Only issue I had was a snafu regarding charging the laptop, which I was able to correct on my own (wasn't properly plugged in?). I also have a desktop computer, so having a laptop works out better when I am traveling for work. Also keep in mind the size of the keys on the keyboard. They can be smaller than what you are used to dealing with.

I believe they are around $100 but they're only good for email typically. The hard drive and memory of those is poor. I would not waste my money on those, keep saving so you can get a regular size laptop.
