Bag is right- here in certain parts of the UK (where I am in particular, the West Midlands), it's quite common to refer (affectionately) to babies as 'babbies'. I find it incredibly annoying, and it's considered quite common (but then again, I'm a Yank, so who am I to say).

In certain parts of the UK, they call the baby a babby. It's pronounced differently (bab-by)
But generally, I think it is bad spelling.
