No, never had a dog go thru false pregnancy but my mom's boston terrier had puppies. She had three but they lost one. She knew she had three puppies - she latched onto this little stuff animal like it was that third puppy. It was sweet and sad all at the same time. It had to go everywhere she and the two pups went and she would lick and clean it up just like she did her other two. she would pick it up and put it up beside her like she was making sure it got some milk time. It was so interesting (& so sweet) to watch her!

Yes.
If it's severe, you can talk to your vet about giving the dog something to help with this. A veterinarian reproductive specialist in my area recommends treating a false pregnancy with drugs your vet can prescribe. He said it's hard on their body.
Make sure not to stimulate the mammary glands as you don't want to increase milk production. If the milk production is bad, cut back on her daily food a bit.
If it's not too severe, just give it time and she'll come out of it.

Our dogs grow to be depressing whilst she grow to be dealing along with her fake being pregnant, it grow to be so unhappy. whilst that grow to be over, she grow to be bred lower back the subsequent 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and had all stillborns. We felt so undesirable for her! We contacted a close by breeder and asked for certainly one of their youngest doggies, she grow to be 3 days previous! So there we've been with a weimaraner mom and a collie domestic dog, yet she didnt care. It grow to be so touching. Oh yeah, i'm off subject remember, that's straight forward for dogs to get fake pregnancies whilst something interior the breeding technique is going incorrect...

Yes, several times.
Came in handy when one of my Lhasas came into milk and a friend's Belgium Sheepdog died. (mother of a new litter) My Lhasa ended up nursing those motherless puppies. :) (She wouldn't "clean" them though. Can't say I blame her.)
