i heard alaska wants to secede from the rest of america?

is that true? and if so how far along are you guys in having that happen?

    They can't. That issue was decided over 140 years ago.

    In any case, I believe that Alaska is still of strategic importance even though the state eats up a lot of federal money from the other states.

    No, we're not. There are a few Alaskans in the 'Alaskan Independence Party' who want it, but most Alaskans are patriotic Americans. We have our regional differences; yes, but for the most part, we are just as American as you guys down there, and here in America to stay.

    There have long been a small number of Alaskans who support secession. Don't assume that that means that most of the people in the state want to do it.
