What's the best Sigur Rós album to start with?

Since Olive has been on absent of late, I will try my best to answer.

I believe, if you really wanna get into them, your best bet is too start with their most accessible album, in this case you should listen to Takk... even though personally I feel that album is a little overproduced, and if you don't like the singers voice (its a hate or love kinda thing) I would go for the second album () which has no song titles or anything, the singer uses his voice as a instrument more then their other albums, so if you like them more from their instrumental music, which is very beautiful btw I would go with that album.

My personal favorite however would be Ágætis Byrjun, which is personally an amazing album... beautiful, mysterious and unique beyond anything out there. I would recommend this album the most, for over time you will eventually settle in, and rather enjoy this album, one of my top ten favorite albums from any artist period.

They also have a newer album, which is good, even though its far more acoustic then their previous stuff, I would recommend you getting this album only if you like the 3 I mentioned before.

múm, Bjork, Sigur Rós, Amiina, and Seabear

Sigur Ros didn't release their first album until 1999 and Radiohead had already released arguably the best album of the 90s (and last 20 years) in OK Computer. Kid A does sound like Sigur Ros but their first album wasn't released in English countries until 2001 i think, and Kid A was already released by then. Amnesiac sounds similar too but thats only because it was recorded at the same time as Kid A. Hail to the Thief doesn't sound like Sigur Ros and either does In Rainbows. Radiohead haven't released an album since In Rainbows either. Edit: If you think it was a new song that you've never heard it could be from Thom Yorkes solo album "The Eraser" or one of the two single songs Radiohead released post In Rainbows "Harry Patch" and "These are my Twisted Words"

Best Sigur Ros Albums

Well, I haven't actually listened to them, but I'm also planning to sometime, and a little research tells me that Agaetis Byrjun is the place to start.

I wouldn't actually answer this question (you know, what with being of virtually no help) but I'd like to tell shred_master to cut the trolling. There's more to life than Family Guy and bashing rap.

BQ: Considering Bjork falls into that category of planning to listen to sometime, I think I'm mostly out of options.
