Any risks for babies near computers or tvs?
I was sitting on the couch working on my laptop with my 18 day old son sitting next to me. My mother-in-law came in and started getting on my case about the baby being to close and he'd get radiation off the computer and tv. I've never heard of this and think its BS. I am looking for some hard evidence to prove one way or the other. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The radiation stuff is nonsense. However, there have been some studies that excessive exposure/watching of televisions/movies/etc before the age of 6 can increase a child's risk for developing ADD/ADHD.
The lesson there is don't let the electronics ever play babysitter. All the flashing pretty lights aren't good for your child's developing brain with respect to attention spans/etc. At only 18 days old though, I'd say she's off her rocker. Its more of a fact to keep at the back of your mind, your little guy's brain is very busy right now. What its exposed to now will affect him later on. He can be as close to the TV and laptop as he wants, I'd just be wary of how often his little eyes have a chance to watch stuff on it. :)
Hope this helps, and congrats!

I never heard of that, but too close to the t.v can be bad for their ears and eyes.
