If you are pregnant and working, when do you plan on starting maternity leave?
I'm just trying to figure out when would be a good time to go on maternity leave. I'm due August 19th and not certain when I will start. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I work in an office/call center environment, about 45 minutes from home so I have to put that into consideration as well.

I work an hour away from home in an office, I was going to work till a couple weeks before delivering and then changed my mind to a month before.. Unfortunately I have high blood pressure so doc took me out 8 weeks before my due date on bed rest... I really wanted to at least finish the month of may out and then go out June on bedrest would have been fine that would have been 5-6 weeks before due date on July 8... but he wouldnt let me finish out the last couple weeks.. But due what your body is telling you.. if you feel great and dont want time off them work till a week before but if your really tired or what to get something done at home take a month off before due date.. I think most docs sign u out 4-5 weeks before due date

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I stopped working about two weeks ago.
I only worked part time like two or three days a week but the shifts
were ten hours long and my body wasn't liking it very much.
I decided to stop working when I realized that I had difficulty standing up after I bent down.
I guess it all depends on how you feel. If you can handle it with no problems I think you should stay as long as you like.
If you start feeling tired and can't concentrate in your job then maybe it's time to rest.
Your body will know how far you can go, I hear some people work until the very last week of their pregnancies.

Well I work in the same call center atmosphere and i'm like 10 minutes from a hospital. I was actually thinking of working all way through my pregnancy up-to at least a week. But if you go in August I would suggest start Aug.1st or August 7th. I guess it depends on your body feels at the time.

I am due October 12. I have 2 weeks vacation, and then I will start my leave. I start vacation August 13, and I will start Mat Leave September 1.
I have an entire year, paid. So I think going 6 weeks early is acceptable.

I am starting my maternity leave just a day before i am supposed to be due, but it depends a lot on your situation, i ve been feeling great no pain just a little tired thats why i decided to continue working till my due date. If you feel good i see no reason why not to keep working but if you are feeling really tired and you need to rest then go for it girl! Good luck :)

I'm working the day before my scheduled c-section and coming back 8 wks later. I'll have 6 wks of full paid short term disability and then 2 wks at 80%. It will only cover as long as I have a medical need to be out of work.

I'm a server, I personally didn't take leave until the day before my scheduled induction, and I came back to work 3 weeks after giving birth. I couldn't afford to take off any longer than that!

did you talk with your manager about maternity leave? do you know how long they will give you, and if it will be with pay or not?
every company's policy on maternity leave is different.
with my company, my leave starts if/whenever my doctor says i have to stay off my feet. and then i've got 6 weeks of leave after the baby is born.
i know another girl under a different company who got 2 months maternity leave after her kid was born. ..so not fair....

I worked with my last two up until I went into labor.
If this is your first, you don't really need to put times into consideration as you will be in labor for hours, some women even days.
It's your call, leave when you think it's best for you to leave.

I will be working until I go into labor, unless something happens between now and my due date that will keep me from working. I can't afford not to work right now! I'm 19 weeks, due in October.
