Question for all thin women?

I am chunky. I have always been chunky. I once lost a significant amount of weight doing Weight Watchers, but have gained it back after 2 babies. My husband thinks that I'm beautiful, but I'm not happy with myself. I feel motivated to get healthy, and I just want to know what you're doing right that I'm doing wrong.

Do you restrict yourself of any foods?

Do you drink alcohol?

Do you count calories/carbs/fat?

How much do you exercise?

What special thing do you do to stay thin?

Thank you all for answering.

Update:

fradiga- I do like the idea of never eating alone. great idea, actually. And my husband is 6'2" and wears a 36" waist pant size and 44" long jacket. He is very muscular. Good point, though.

I wonder if you heard of the book "Why French Women Don't Get Fat" by Mireille Guiliano?

In it, she describes some traditional ways to digest your food properly and thus not put on weight:

    a) Eat at the same times everyday.

    b) Sit down at a table to eat.

    c) Use ustensils, even on a pizza.

    d) Take small bites and chew a lot.

    e) If you can, do not eat alone.

    You can also add:

    f) Eat as little processed food as possible (make your own from scratch).

    g) Take exercise just before or just after the meal. A walk is all you need. Either you are still burning calories while you eat, or you are burning calories both ways by digesting and moving at the same time.

    h) Drinking Japanese green tea (Sencha, bancha and Hojicha at night) after meals is good for metabolism. A simple cup of hot water is a great helper to digest food.

    i) Taking every chance to walk and walk fast.

    j) Don't drink too much alcohol, unless it is Champagne.

    k) No sodas or sugar substitutes. Drink water or teas instead.

    l) No dieting allowed.

    m) Eat a variety of foods and eat what's in season if you can.

I am sure I am forgetting something.

While it is very nice of your husband not to mind your size (how big is he?), your need to see yourself healthier is more important.

I restrict all junk food for the most part, but if I am really craving something, which doesn't happen very often, I allow myself to have a chocolate bar every now and again. I never ever eat fast food. I never drink alcohol. I don't count any calories or anything. I skip rope for 20 minutes most days, followed by 50 crunches, 20 side crunches, and 10 leg lifts plus stretching to maintain my flexibility. I walk around town often with friends. Nothing special, just plain ol' diet and excersise. Oh, and cut out soda and sugary juice. Drink tea and water mostly.

I was not happy with my weight after giving birth. I ate a lot of salads for a while, and exercised several days a week.If you want to lose weight you must do regular cardiovascular exercise. Cardio is what burns calories and helps you lose weight. You also need to tone your muscles, as muscle burns calories even at rest. Some good workout DVD's to try are Fabulously Fit Moms by Jennifer Nicole Lee, Denise Austin (she has a lot of cardio DVD's), Crunch Fitness Pilates/Yoga Blend (great for abs), and Prevention Fitness 321 Workout (Circuit training- cardio and toning). After you have been exercising for a while you can try Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred. I would say it is not for beginners, as it is quite tough. I do not count calories or carbs, I have lost weight (about 20 lbs) just from exercising regularly. I do not smoke or drink.

    Alright :)

1.) I was on a diet and yes i restricted foods in it. once a week i would indulge in a few of my favorite things. but level it out through the rest of the week, make sure when u indulge it s not TO MUCH. Like have your favorite dinner and desser or go get that donut youve been looking forward to! Moderation and control.

2.) I dont drink alcohal i dont drink or smoke or party.

3.) I do count calories, i watch teh fat in everything and the sugars.

4.) I dont exercise alot, im maintaining my weight now.

5.) Special thing? Eat healthy and walk! Dont drink soda or sugary drinks, dont eat a whole bag of chips, if you want popcorn, airpop some with out butter, It surprises you how tasty plain popcorn can taste when your use to its! Watch your portions.

Breakfast ideas: Healthy cereals(kashi, plain shredd wheat, no sugar cereals, ect) Oatmeal(not the packaged kinds! Make it plain with skim milk, sliced fruit and ground cinnamon!

Snack-apple and natural PB, granola bar(kashi, others are all horrible and more unhealthy), Kashi crackers with laughing cow cheese), fruits, pb and cellery with raisins ect.

Lunch-whole wheat bread with lean turkey or chicken, veggies, fruits ect.

Dinner-Veggies with baked chicken with cottage cheese(low fat), something healthy with a small salad. mhmm
