Calling all COMPUTER EXPERTS~~~Computer Viruses!!!?

i have A LOT i mean A LOT of viruses that supposedly came from QuickTime. so i thought that the viruses came from YouTube, because people may use quicktime to put vids on youtube. so i thought the viruses came from youtube. however, i recently learned that there are no viruses on YouTube. I agree, because.. how could a company as big as YouTube get away with putting viruses on their site??

so does anyone know where all the quicktime viruses may be coming from?

Thanks!

A virus has to be forcefully placed onto your computer. Seeing as youtube's videos run on flash, that won't happen unless they download something to you.

Besides, QuickTime is the devil. It doesn't actually make viruses, but it does throw spyware at you and cause a bunch of problems.

Quicktime is also a huge company because it is owned by Apple. Quicktime isn't giving you viruses, some malware on your computer likely embedded itself in quicktime's files and your computer is being confused by it. What you need to do is buy or download antivirus software from the internet and run it. It will remove the viruses, unless they are very advanced viruses. After they are removed you need to have a firewall and antivirus software running at all times whenever you use your computer. Hope this helps.

Norton and McAfee both offer firewall and anti-virus for a yearly fee of about 50 dollars. There are also free programs like zone alarm that you can get.

The viruses are not coming from Quicktime., but coming from the websites you are visiting....make sure you are visiting well established and recognized websites...also you may want to look into a site manager program that will alert you if the site has had problems in the past with infections or viruses...Fortunately i have Avast on my computer and it will warn me of any bad sites with a beta format warning so i can immediately disconnect from the site or the internet..

You wouldn't get a virus directly from YouTube. If you go to a link in the comments and download something from there, you might. Quicktime is just a media player, like Winamp. I don't think you would have got a virus from there either.

If you do think you have a virus, I recommend you get some decent anti-viral protection, such as AVG, Kaspersky or NOD32.

you must have run a quicktime setup that has been altered by someone to initiate a virus attack.. or it might hv come from smwhere else.. all you can do is uninstall everything u installed recently.. n run a full computer scan.. if u hv an always on net connection the i suggest u run an online scan.. at kaspersky.com..also uncheck unknown items in startup using msconfig(run->msconfig).

Quick! Either get Norton 360 or Norton Internet Security! Or go to Norton.com and scan your computer for viruses, and they'll tell you what software is best for you.
