they are great, all they really don't have are the capability for heavy games and the lack of a disc drive which you can get separately. I got this asus (the link in the source) and I absolutely love it, they do do powerpoints, I have on mine, it doesn't lag on anything at all.

If you're a college student, you're going to want a proper laptop. Netbooks are basically for portable internet access. Though they can do word processing, they aren't good for power point presentations. The reason for this is that many are not power point compatible. In addition, they may not have a monitor cable to connect to a projector.
Really, if you're going to college, just get a normal laptop. It'll be so much easier for your uses.

Good for basic everyday computer use and surfing the internet. No CD Drive is a problem

simple word processing and internet portability is the best thing about them. and cheap!
as long as you dont want to play any games youll be fine.
