How do I calm down and not get stressed out?

I have found myself at my wits end with stress. I am a single parent to a 5 year old and 7 year old on the Autism spectrum. I love them dearly, but find it hard to get them to listen to me. My ex husband only has them once a week and they always do as he says. But this week alone, my 5 year old has just about brought the house down!!!! Between drawing on walls (and himself) climbing, getting the iron and plugging it in, pouring away all the shampoo/handwash, and just not seeming to take a telling (naughty corner is NOT working supernanny!!). I also have a lot of money pressures (like mostly everyone!!! LOL). I have seemed to let it all get on top of me. So my question is, how do I step back from a situation, calm down, and think it through sensibly without losing it?

you have probably heard this advice before but step back away from the situation, close your eyes and try to send yourself away from the situation. Block all the noises out and take long deep breathes, try to go over the happy times in your head. Before you discipline your children try to do it out of love, not anger.

It's hard to do because you love your children more than anything on this world but sometimes it's necessary to put yourself first in order to be the best mother you can be. Take a day where your ex has your kids and relax, go through all of your thoughts.
