Wow did you see UFC 98!?
What a great event. I watched my favourite MMA fighter ever (Matt Hughes) beat Matt Serra not a classic I know but he is at the end of his career. Should he retire now? I think so.
Also what a fighter Lyoto Machida is that knock out made Evans look ordinary which of course he is not. Question is Who the hell will fight him next? I can't think of anyone worthy.
Just read that Jackson could well be his next opponent at UFC 104. He will get trashed.

What a brilliant night. I enjoyed every fight. Obviously the 2 main events were the fights you mentioned and they didn't disappoint. With all the bad blood between Hughes & Serra leading up to this fight, I thought both of their game plans would have gone out the window but it turned out pretty much as expected....Serra wanting to make it a "stand up" fight, & Hughes wanting to take him to the ground. Hughes is just too powerful for Serra on the floor & deserved the win.
As for Machida? I've been saying for a good while now that this fella would be Champion....and boy....did he deserve it? Brilliant performance! I just love his style. He's so elusive, selective with his punches & kicks, quick, & in my opinion he will keep that belt for as long as he wants to. Jackson, Shogun, Bisping etc, will all go the same way as Evans did.
He'll be around for a long time as Champion as long as he doesn't get complacent.

I think Hughes will sign on for 3 more fights with the UFC. He will be relegated to being a gatekeeper for the WW division. I'm sure he believes he can still hang with the top WWs besides GSP, but Alves will wreck him again, Fitch would do the same, and I really believe that he would have difficulty with Koscheck or even Mike Swick.
Machida was very impressive on Saturday night. People sure are quick to annoint him the best LHW in the world (jumping the gun a bit, with the whole "Machida era" thing, IMO). He's still gotta defend thet title once to even be considered a legit champion.
Rampage will get the first crack at him. I think Rampage will offer a much stiffer test to Machida than people believe. He can take a punch, and won't be afraid to engage with Lyoto. Evans was very hesitant on Saturday, and that's what cost him more than anything. As much as Rashad has improved over the past few years, he isn't at Rampage's level, and Rampage is still getting better too!
I've read a lot of comments by people saying that Shogun will be the only one to challenge Lyoto. People need to realize that Shogun has 1 impressive win (if you call knocking out an over the hill Chuck Liddell impressive) in the UFC. He gassed very quickly, and was barely able to finish Mark Coleman. Granted, he looked to be in much better shape against Chuck, but personally, I want to see him take on at least 1 or 2 more top LHWs before he is even considered for a title shot.

"I saw Serra win round number 1 (should have been 10-8),"
Wow. Just wow. I dislike Hughes, but his haters can just be ridiculous sometimes.
Anyway. Yeah, I didn't expect much from the Hughes/Serra fight, so I wasn't really disappointed. Machida is my favourite fighter in UFC and the only one who I've supported all the way to the belt from the very first time i saw him. Technically perfect performance. The two other knockouts and submissions on the card were also fantastic.

You're having a laugh if you think Rampage will beat Machida. He's going the way of Rashad, Tito, Rich, Thiago, Sokoudjou etc etc.

I saw Serra win round number 1 (should have been 10-8), and then I saw Hughes try to make gay porn by lying on Serra and humping him for 2 more boooooring rounds. I'm not one to judge... if you like captain gay-porn-lay-and-pray, more power to you.
Evans got rocked hard. No one knew Machida could throw a punch. He wasn't running away for once.

LOVE Rashad's pose after he got knocked out. Almost as good as when Tank knocked out Nelmark!
