netflix roku player vs. laptop?
I currently watch the instant netflix movies by hooking my laptop up to my HDTV and was thinking about getting a Roku player. Is it any better than using the laptop?

Possibly. I tried to watch a netflix movie using my dad's laptop (hooked up to our TV) and it was a pain because his computer was spyware infested and a lot of popups kept interrupting the movie. The roku player is a more solid solution that would always be plugged in and waiting. Personally, I use the Xbox for watching movies. A Roku is about a hundred bucks, I think, so it made more sense for me not to get one.
In any case, the only downside I can think of besides the cost is that you probably can't edit your instant queue on the Roku itself. At least with the 360, the list is the list and you can't search for new movies to add without going back to a computer.
In any case, no improvements in terms of quality of video or anything - but it might be more convenient if you can justify a hundred bucks for that.

I second the Roku. You get a remote and simplicity. However, I do both. I have a RCA dvd player which connects to my ipod touch with remote and a laptop base attached to a long hdmi cable. If you dont have 1 get 1..

I love Roku. I don't like watching on my notebook, because I can't use it while the movie is playing.
