Non-Regular cycle after Childbirth?
I gave birth to my first and only child four and a half months ago. I breastfed in the beginning but then switched to formula.
Due to complications during the birth, I did not resume sexual activity until about 10 weeks after birth.
I got my first period at just over 3 months after the birth. However, it seemed to be a strange period - longer than usual, and the blood seemed extremely fresh (bright red instead of usual brown/red).
Since then, I have not had my next period. (Its been about 7 weeks since my last one). I highly doubt being pregnant again as I have been using birth control methods 100% of the time.
Has anybody else had this experience? Having one unusual period after birth, and then your next period being late? Is it common that your cycle is not back on a 28 day schedule right away?
Thanks!

Your body is still a little out of whack and is trying to adjust. After I had my son, almost 7 yrs ago, my periods were totally screwed up. I had one about every 6 months.
Then I got pregnant with my daughter and after having her my periods were pretty much on schedule until just recently. It has been almost 2 yrs since I had her and all of the sudden, I don't have a period for 3 months. I'm sure my problems are different from yours, but I have experienced messed up periods after having my son.

It's very common for a woman's cycle to be messed up after giving birth. Your body is adjusting to not being pregnant any longer and needs some time to do so.
My first few periods weren't "on track". I wasn't really sure when they would come and pre-pregnancy they were always normal and on time like clockwork. After that, though, they went back to being the normal length and time apart.

yah, same here... i gave birth to my first child, 5 months ago. i bleed for 2 weeks and stop, after a month my period started and for the next month (feb. and march)... but since april until now, for more than 2 months i dont have my period again... and i am pretty sure i dont miss any of my birth control pill... i had pregnancy test for 3 times, all it shows negative...im thinking this is because of the control pill im taking, or its hormonal change after birth...but i asked to some mommies here, they said its all normal...so, ill wait until when my period comes. Good luck for both of us...
