How to cure a dog bite in the face? (details inside)?

My new puppy, he's a small bichon frise, bit me in the face 10 minutes ago.

It didn't hurt much, he doesn't have ant allergies, my mom smacked him 3 times already, and he's gotten all of his shots.

But, its throbbing a little and you can see the mark.

It was just below my eye and below my temples.

Is it serious? He's almost harmless (not really)

but what should I do?

My mom put some Neosporin on my face already.

You're fine. Tell your mom not to smack the puppy, and keep your face out of his teeth when you're playing. His having or not having allergies has nothing to do with anything, and his vaccinations are for dog diseases (not diseases humans can get) unless he is old enough to have had his rabies vaccine. Go to puppy class! You will learn how to properly interact with your puppy, and your puppy will learn how to behave.

Puppies bite. It is what baby puppies do. There are better ways to handle that then smacking them.

You'll be fine, but tell your mom that "smacking" this dog will make him aggressive and nasty - that's just not smart.

Puppies play bite all the time, you don't put your face near enough to him to let him bite you. It's called "mouthing" - what you do is totally ignore him when he starts to mouth, make a sharp sound like "No" "ouch", whatever walk away, stop playing with him, that's what his mother and litter mates would do. He will eventually learn that mouthing means the end of play time.

Do not hit, do not yell, do not play rough with him or you will end up with a nervous, aggressive dog. I can't believe your mother doesn't know that --- you never, never, hit a dog - you use positive reinforcement to train him.

The bite is harmless, hitting the puppy is terrible. Get a book on raising puppies, their care and training so that you, at least, will have some clue as to what to do with puppies.

The mouthing is the same as babies teething, you wouldn't smack a baby for teething, you sure don't hit a puppy for mouthing.

Sad, very sad - haven't you got any idea as to how to treat or train a puppy? Get a good book "Puppies for Dummies", silly title, good book, very informative.

Call a veterinarian or an emergency vet and ask them - odds are they will recommend either giving some sort of antihistamine (like Benadryl), or will tell you to come in. DO NOT MEDICATE YOUR DOG WITHOUT ASKING A VET FIRST. Also, cool washcloths on the skin can help ease the sting while you get the info from the vet.

you'll survive, but going for your face needs to be nipped in the bud right from the off, even if he was just playing.
