How do i "photoshop" two pictures together using GIMP editor?
When i use the eraser in GIMP, it doesnt make the layer transparent. I'm trying to put someones head on another body, but I cannot just isolate the head, because the eraser only turns the background white.

You need to look at the layers, click on the active layer that you want to use, right click with the mouse and select add alpha channel. That will allow it to become transparent.
After adding the alpha channel I recommend that you use the Paths tool (B), or the quick mask (Shift + Q). Using the Paths tool is pretty simple, make an outline of the image you want to cut out, and hit (Shift + V) to close it and make it into a selection and cut out the item (Ctrl + X). The Quick Mask is pretty simple also, click on the little square box on the bottom left of the main window, under the vertical ruler or hit (Shift + Q). Select the Paint brush (P) and select the fuzzy brush. Then use the value White to colour out what you want selected and erased, Black will fill it back in red and undo any mistakes. Be sure to check what will be selected once in a while (Shift + Q) to toggle it on and off.
