I filed a paper return for my Kansas taxes this year. It's been over 8 weeks and still no refund. How long?

How long did it take for you to get your refund from the State of Kansas if you filed a paper return?

Kansas Tax Refunds On Hold

Officials Say Delay Could Last Month

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Here's another reason for filing your income taxes early: Kansas has stopped issuing tax refund checks because the state's low on money.

The state Department of Revenue stopped mailing refunds on Tuesday and said the delay could last for a month.

Department spokeswoman Freda Warfield said most taxpayers have already received their refunds. The delay mostly will affect late filers and people who made mistakes on their tax returns.

The recession has reduced tax revenues, which is causing the state to deal with frequent cash crunches. State officials had to borrow money this winter from other state funds to pay tax refunds and cover public employee salaries.

Republican leaders in the Legislature it appeared Democratic Gov. Mark Parkinson was doing all he could.

I can't help you with this one, as I didn't file in Kansas! But, I can suggest that you call that Wizard (you know - Dorothy's friend) and see if he can't 'sweeten' it a little since you have had to wait so long!

    Good Luck!

Sounds like there might be a problem on their end. There are lots of things that can go wrong -- they might have misplaced your information, or entered some of it wrong, or they could just be taking a long time to file. Instead of worrying about your refund, go to the specialists: work with a tax preparation company that specializes in getting refunds fast.

    I've linked to one below.

definite, it particularly is going to truly take that long. Your previous due submitting forces the IRS to technique that return out of their usual working schedule. The shortest refund time for paper filers is frequently 6 weeks.

go to www.irs.gov and click on the "where's my refund" button. it always takes a lot longer for paper returns since most of it is done electronically. maybe next year you will consider doing that so you can get your refund faster.
