I have a 1973 mercury 40 horse outboard motor. I am trying to install an ignition switch,what goes where ?

I am trying to wire an ignition switch in the assembly, but I have no idea what wires go where, old ignition wires were too deteriorated to know color,but I can trace them, the ignition is round with 6 posts only 5 are used. please help me?

    assume the posts are labelled.

    B (battery) = 12V feed from battery.

    S (start) = through neutral safety switch to starter solenoid small input terminal

    C (choke, if equipped) = to choke solenoid

    A (accessory) or I (ignition) = 12V switched accessory (gauges, other accessory that are powered only when the key is "on").

    M (magneto) and other M (magneto) -- if your motor has points, attach the two wires coming off the points here. If it has electrronic ignition, put a ground on one and the kill wire on the other.

    O matey have you got a problem,, I dont think, Just take the whole shooting match to your local Merc OR marine elect and get them to do the job, It's cheaper and safer. Hay its your money and your life ,,(at minimum)
